Prep Tips
Blend this drink right before you serve it, it only takes 5 minutes to add everything to the blender and blend it.
First, add the ice to the blender jug.
Add the frozen strawberries.
Next add the simple syrup. For a sweeter drink you can add a bit more.
Add the lemon juice.
Finally, add the tequila. I use 1 ½ oz. of tequila per drink. I use gold tequila, you can also use silver tequila.
Blend everything together for a few minutes, until smooth, thick, and slushie.
Pour the mixture into a glass.
Use a straw or chopstick to stir the drink and get rid of any air bubbles. (Optional).
You can serve the drink as is, with a straw, or garnished with some lemon slices.
You can also rim the glass with flavored salt. I like using Tajin on my margaritas.
How to rim a glass for a margarita
- Use either some lemon juice or simple syrup to wet the rim of the glass.
- Pour the Tajin, or chili powder and salt on a plate.
- Roll the rim of the glass in the chili salt until coated.
This provides a nice tangy, spicy, and salty contrast to sweet frozen drinks like margaritas.

Storage
Margaritas are best made as you want them because they can melt.
FAQs
You can use fresh strawberries but it's best to use frozen strawberries for a thicker and slushier consistency. Freeze fresh strawberries overnight for use in blended tequila drinks.
Yes you can use agave nectar instead of simple syrup. Granulated sugar isn't recommended for use in cocktails because it doesn't dissolve.
