Air fryer pita chips are a quick and easy snack you can make at home. These crispy chips are seasoned with za'atar and salt, giving them a Middle Eastern twist, and take just 4 minutes to air fry. They're perfect for dipping or eating on their own.

These air fryer pita chips with za’atar are a great alternative to store-bought chips. The air fryer gets them super crunchy (without deep frying) and the za’atar adds a unique flavor.
Serve them with hummus, use them in salads, or enjoy them as a standalone snack. Or smash them into pita crunchies and add them into wraps or grain bowls for a crunchy topping.
Feel free to customize the flavors and use up leftover pitas when you have them.
Ingredients
See the recipe card for exact amounts.
- pita: I use store-bought pitas and have yet to test them with homemade pita bread. Multigrain pitas work also.
- za'atar seasoning: a Middle Eastern spice blend that adds a tangy, herby flavor.
- olive oil: helps the seasoning stick, adds flavor, and helps achieve a crispy texture.
Substitutions
- za'atar seasoning: Try another seasoning blend if za'atar isn't available to you. I think ranch seasoning would be good.
Customize your pita chips by using different seasoning blends.

Tips for making pita chips in an air fryer
- Cut the pitas into even sized pieces for even cooking.
- Watch the chips closely in the air fryer, the cooking time is very short and burning can happen quickly.
- Try other seasoning blends for different flavors.
What to serve with air fried pita chips
Pita chips are great served with dips as part of a lunch plate, gameday snack board, or appetizer. Try tzatziki sauce, hummus, or garlicky Toum.
