This homemade peanut butter syrup is an easy way to add real peanut butter flavor to coffee, iced lattes, or desserts. It takes just three ingredients and a few minutes on the stove.
My favorite way to use it is with homemade toasted marshmallow syrup in a peanut butter marshmallow iced latte, inspired by a Fluffernutter.

Ingredients
See the recipe card for exact amounts.

- Sugar and water: the two basic ingredients for any simple syrup. Granulated white sugar sweetens and gives the syrup a smooth, pourable consistency.
- Peanut butter: smooth peanut butter gives the syrup its peanut butter flavor and is easiest to mix.
Tips for Making Peanut Butter Syrup
- Use smooth peanut butter. You don’t need little chunks of peanut in the syrup.
- Whisk continuously after adding the peanut butter. This helps it fully incorporate into the hot syrup.
- Don’t heat it for longer than necessary. Once the peanut butter is smooth and incorporated, it’s ready.
- Let it cool before storing. The syrup will thicken slightly as it cools.

Instructions
- Add the water and sugar to a medium saucepan.
- Heat over medium-high heat, whisking often, until the mixture comes to a boil and the sugar has dissolved.
- Add the peanut butter and whisk continuously for another 1–2 minutes, until the peanut butter is completely melted into the syrup and the mixture is smooth.
- Remove from the heat and let the syrup cool.
- Pour it into a clean jar, add a lid, and refrigerate.

Storage
Store the cooled syrup in a clean, airtight jar in the refrigerator.
If the peanut butter settles slightly, give the syrup a good stir before using.
