Peppermint Hot Chocolate

Ingredients

  • 3 cups milk 2%
  • 1 cup cream 10%
  • 1 cup chocolate chips 50% dark chocolate
  • ½ teaspoon peppermint extract
  • whipped cream optional, for serving
  • shaved chocolate optional, for serving

Instructions

  • Combine milk and cream in a medium pot and heat over medium heat until steaming.
  • Remove from heat and add extract and chocolate.
  • Whisk until smooth.
  • Serve as is or top with whipped cream chocolate shavings.

Notes

Notes – Add an ounce of alcohol like bourbon or whisky to each cup for an adult version.
Substitutions – Use semi-sweet chocolate if you prefer.
Storage – Serve immediately.
