Whip. Add the vanilla to the heavy cream and whip the cream to stiff peaks. This gives the best texture for ice cream.
Peaks! You've achieved stiff peaks if you can stand a whisk up with a dollop of cream on it and the tip stands up and doesn't bend over.
Chop! Chop the Oreo cookies. This gives both crumbs and chunks in the final ice cream.
Stir! Fold the cookies and sweetened condensed milk into the whipped cream. Be careful not to knock out the air you've just whipped into it.
Cover it! Pour the ice cream into a loaf pan and cover with plastic wrap. Push the plastic wrap into the surface to prevent ice crystals.
Freeze it! Freeze the ice cream for 6 hours for soft ice cream and overnight for hard ice cream.
