I love coffee and while my usual is an Americano or Iced Americano - no sugar no cream - I do love a special coffee sometimes. My Brown Sugar Oat Milk Shaken Espresso is my number one because it tastes like an oatmeal cookie.

But I also love white chocolate, so this cold white chocolate coffee is another favorite.

Why make an Iced White Mocha at home?

Honestly, it's more cost effective and you don't have to leave the house. I live out in the country, half an hour drive from a Starbucks, you won't catch me driving there for a drink.

Also, this drink is easily customizable at home with different chocolate and different types of milk.

Can I make an Iced White Mocha without using espresso or coffee?

Iced coffee can be made with espresso, drip coffee, pour over coffee, French press coffee, and even instant coffee. When using coffee other than espresso for an iced coffee drink, brew it stronger so the taste comes through in the final beverage.

Ingredients

See the recipe card for exact amounts.

Iced coffee in a tall glass with whipped cream and a white chocolate square on top.
  • espresso: I use a double shot of espresso, which Starbucks also does in their Grande Iced White Mocha.
  • cashew milk: Starbucks uses 2% cow's milk which I don't drink, so I use cashew milk. Use your favorite milk.
  • white chocolate: I don't fuss with making a sauce for this drink, the hot coffee will melt the soft white chocolate squares just with stirring. I use a Lindt white chocolate bar. I use the one with a soft filling because they melt so easily in hot coffee.
  • ice: lots of ice to keep it cool!
  • whipped cream: this is optional but recommended because Starbucks does it, it tastes good, and it turns this chilled espresso drink into a real treat! Fun!

Substitutions

  • espresso: You can use a double shot of espresso or strong coffee prepared another way. Try pour-over coffee, French press coffee, drip coffee, or even Instant Coffee granules.
  • cashew milk: Starbucks uses cows milk, I don't like the taste so I opt for cashew milk. I think any other plant milk would do the trick, like Almond Milk or Oat Milk.

Tips for making Iced Coffee

  • coffee: if using espresso make sure to make it right before you put this drink together and make sure all other elements are ready to go. Espresso can get bitter after it sits for a bit, but not immediately.
  • milk: use whichever milk you prefer to use. I like cashew and oat milk for iced coffee drinks
  • chocolate: Not a fan of white chocolate? Make an Iced Mocha instead by using regular or dark chocolate!
  • variations: try adding a dash of peppermint extract, maple extract, or a creamy liqueur like Bailey's Irish Cream or Cabot Trail Maple Cream.

What to serve with an Iced White Mocha

Try a bakery style treat like my Cinnamon Twists, or a slice of Cinnamon Streusel Cake.
