Friday Favorites.
This was a really nice week. My husband came back from his trip to hike Zion and the Grand Canyon and then we just all hung out together all week.
- The Common at the Forks Market.
If you're in Winnipeg then maybe you already know that the Forks seems to be getting a bit of a makeover (honestly, it's needed it for some time already, so it was nice to see). If you're not from here, then the Forks Market is a large indoor and outdoor area in downtown Winnipeg with a bunch of unique shops and restaurants. The newest addition that we noticed, was The Common (I think that's what it was called). They actually serve alcohol now. So us and the kids could each get a meal from a different restaurant stall and then gather in the common area in the center. We had a beer while they did not, lol, and we just had a nice time hanging out. I tried the dark stout with hints of coffee and chocolate and loved it, and my husband tried the IPA like he usually does.
2. Dim Sum at Kum Koon Garden.
We also tried something new for the kids when we went out to dinner again another time this week. They'd never tried Dim Sum and it had been a while for us, so we went down to Chinatown and ate at Kum Koon Garden. It was a great meal, lots of fun and the kids liked it too, win!
3. Fall Recipe Testing.
I keep trying to resist the lure of Fall, but I can't help but need to do recipe testing! I made an apple crumble, pumpkin spice syrup, S'mores bar, apple caramel cake and more, all of which will be posted here in the next few weeks so.
4. NFL is back! Yeah!
YES. I root for the Bears and I'm completely aware that this could be another disappointing season (although I really, really , really, hope not!) but I'm just so happy to have the NFL back on tv. Sunday morning perusal of the days games, easy chores while I keep an eye on the tv all day and then something awesome for dinner for the evening game. Love it. Another month and I'll have NHL back on too and then I'm really excited!
What did you love this week?
Did you make this recipe? Let me know!
