Welcome to my new series, Friday Favorites. Every Friday I’ll share various favorite things from the week, whether it was a moment I especially want to remember, a recipe I tried or started developing, or just anything I came across that I especially liked this week. This will be a really great way for me to look back and remember things I liked over the weeks and months.
- This week, my first favorite was camping with my family at Nutimik Lake. I am not a big camper. I kind of dread it sometimes (most... ALL of the time). Until I get there. I was worried about this trip because the forecast called for rain the entire time for about a week out, and tenting and rain is one of my least favorite combos. But it only rained for about an hour while we were still in bed one morning, and the rest of the trip was great. We joined my sister and her fiancé and kids there, and it was great to sit around the campfire with them (I even hiked a bit – one of my other least favorite things – one which I’m trying to turn around on)
Here are a couple photos. 1. Campfire coffee 2. Campfire pasta and garlic bread 3. Lake view 4. Bridge hike
We also recorded the Bean Boozled Jelly Bean Challenge for my vlog channel – NOT one of my favorite things.
- The rest of summer. I made pumpkin spice syrup for a future blog post, but as I sipped a pumpkin spiced coffee, I had to remind myself to just stop and enjoy the rest of summer. Pretty soon we’ll be covered in snow and ice and summer will be a distant memory. So as much as I LOVE fall, my favorite season, I know I need to take in the rest of the current season. (haha, I’m currently working at Starbucks, and I’m not even kidding, once I went and wrote my number 3 favorite thing, the Starbucks employee came out and put up the “I’m back – Pumpkin Spice Latte!” sign)
- Julie Kenner’s Demon-Hunting Soccer Mom series. I haven't read anything else by her, but I’m re-reading these books right now and it’s such a fun series. Julie Kenner writes with such humor and the characters and pacing never let me down. I love re-reading certain books and series and this is one of them.
Well I think that’s all I have for this week. What were your favorites this week?
Have a wonderful weekend!
