No cook pizza sauce with tomato paste
What is no cook pizza sauce? Exactly as it sounds - pizza sauce made without cooking. In this case, we're using tomato paste or tomato sauce as the base and using Italian-themed spices to flavor it up.
I prefer this no-cook sauce to any store-bought jars or cans because I can flavor it exactly as I want. I make my basic recipe from the recipe card below but I can add more red pepper flakes to spice it up. Also, I can never have enough basil so I always add more.
And you can do the same - customize the sauce to your liking, or leave it as is. Make the base sauce, taste it, and add more of what you like, such as oregano or black pepper.
Add curry powder to this sauce and make a paneer pizza recipe.
Ingredients
See the recipe card for exact amounts.
- tomato: for the tomato base you can either use tomato paste and water mixed together, or just go with crushed tomato, tomato sauce, or tomato passata.
- spices: the spices for homemade pizza sauce include, oregano, basil, garlic, onion, and red pepper flakes. Season with salt and pepper.
- balance: to balance the acidity of the tomato, use a pinch of sugar. You can omit this if you want to.
Substitutions
- tomato paste: instead of tomato paste and water mixed together, you can use tomato sauce.
- spices: instead of using the measured amounts of spices, you can use 3 tablespoons of Italian Seasoning Mix instead.
How to Make 5 minute No Cook Pizza Sauce
Prep Tips
- Measure the individual spices or use my Italian Seasoning Mix.
Add the spices to the tomato paste, or tomato sauce, and mix. Add a pinch of salt and sugar. The sugar will balance the acidity of the tomato.
Add water and mix well. That's it. It's ready to use on pizza!
RECIPE TIP: Only need a small amount from a can of tomato paste? Freeze the rest in an ice cube tray. To use frozen tomato paste in this recipe, let it sit and thaw, microwave it to thaw it, or mix it with boiling water and then add the spices.

FAQs
Pizza sauce does not need to be cooked to make it or use on pizza. Pizza restaurants will usually make their own sauce from scratch, simmering to yield deep flavors. But you can make a quick pizza sauce with tomato paste and spices and have a flavorful result.
If you don't have tomato paste or don't want to use it, you can use tomato sauce or crushed tomatoes in this recipe.

Best pizza sauce, except I use a heaping teaspoon of crushed red pepper (when doubling the recipe, with one can tomato paste).
