5 Minute Easy Pizza Sauce – The next time you're making pizza for dinner, try this easy homemade pizza sauce, made with just tomato sauce or tomato paste and spices.
It's Pizza Week! This week I'm going to share my easy 5 Minute Pizza Sauce, my pizza dough recipe and then a completed pizza with potato slices and balsamic glaze.
We have homemade pizza a lot – it's just so good. And you can customize your toppings and come up with new and weird ones. Tater tots? Sliced potatos? Thai chicken? Yes, yes and YES.
With all the different pizza toppings we come up with, we use a lot of different sauces. Ranch, BBQ sauce, Alfredo, oil and herbs, etc.. But we always use a tomato pizza sauce. First – because it's easy. Second – because you can't have a pepperoni pizza without it! At least that's what my son tells me.
The best pizza sauce is homemade sauce, in my opinion. Why? Because it's:
- Low in sugar
- Low in salt
- Full of flavor
It's also, (as the title says) so easy to make, especially if you use some of the same little tips as me, which I talked about in my Taco Seasoning recipe post. Specifically – if you have tomato paste and Italian Seasoning ready – which I always do – then this is a 2 minute pizza sauce. I water down the tomato paste a bit. I've also substituted that for tomato sauce before if I've run out of tomato paste.
How to Make 5 minute Easy Pizza Sauce
Mix together the tomato paste and water. If your tomato paste is frozen then make sure the water you add is hot. It's defrost quickly. Add the spices and mix. Add a pinch of salt and sugar. The sugar will balance the acidity of the tomato. That's it. It's ready to use on pizza!

Hi! I'm Jacqueline. I create the recipes here, photograph, and share them with you so you can feed your family delicious, fresh food.
I love to cook, read, sway in my hammock, take photos, and renovate my cabin. I drink coffee and red wine and I'm just as happy at my grill as I am with a whisk and mixing bowl.
Best pizza sauce, except I use a heaping teaspoon of crushed red pepper (when doubling the recipe, with one can tomato paste).
